Healthy Homes Initiative
The association between health and housing has been known for hundreds of years. People spend around 90% of their time indoors. Your home is a very important environment where you and your family may spend much of your time. If your home environment is unhealthy or unsafe, it can lead to disease, injury or even death. The quality of housing effects our quality of life. A home can support health and well-being.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health Healthy Homes Initiative is a holistic and comprehensive approach designed to address the connection between housing and health. The goal of the Healthy Homes Initiative is to promote health and well-being through safe and healthy home environments. This is accomplished by addressing physical, chemical, and toxic hazards in the home through a variety of programs.
