NOTE:  AEMT applicants holding a current certification issued by a state or territory of the United States that does not require successful completion of the NREMT examination (except as indicated above) must meet the Connecticut requirements for certification by examination.

Documentation Requirements

In order to be eligible for an AEMT certification by endorsement based on a current out-of-state or NREMT certification, an applicant shall arrange for the submission of the following documentation directly from the source:
  • A completed application for AEMT certification by endorsement.
  • Official verification of current or expired EMR certification or licensure in another state(s) or territory.  This form must be sent by the applicant (after filling out section 1) to the state they are currently certified/licensed in for official verification of licensure/certification.  Once the verifying agency has completed the form, it is to be sent directly to this office from the verifying state’s Licensing/Certification entity.  The verifying state or territory must also provide their current license/certification requirements.  Please note: some jurisdictions may charge a fee for completion of the verification form; contact the jurisdiction for fee information.  Contact information for states and territories can be found on the NREMT website
Upon receipt and review of all application materials, this office will determine your eligibility under this route.  Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements may be required to take the psychomotor and cognitive examinations approved by the Department.  Please visit the OEMS examination page for examination information and documentation requirements.

Please note:  the issue date of a new certification or reinstatement of an expired certification is based on the day that the course was completed.  New certifications or reinstatement of expired certifications are granted for a period not to exceed three years to the nearest quarter that the training course was completed.

All supporting documentation should be sent from the primary source.
