The mission of the Office of Emergency Medical Services is to be responsible for program development activities, including, but not limited to:
Public education and information programs, Regional council oversight,
recent devastating damage as a result Hurricanes Harvey &
Irma, it is important to keep in mind some key points
regarding responding to assist without request in other states:
Please do not self-deploy to Texas, Louisiana or any affected areas. We must help those responding to this disaster to avoid the distraction and unnecessary problems created by well-meaning volunteers. As you are aware, unexpectedly showing up to any of the communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey will create an additional burden to the already coordinated response in those areas.
The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) is the state point of contact for response assistance in the affected areas. Any requests for assistance are coordinated by DESPP through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, or EMAC, the state-to-state coordination system used throughout the country to provide requested mutual aid. They are actively engaged in reviewing all requests, and the DEMHS Regional Coordinators are keeping track of offers of assistance in case a need for those resources are identified by the requesting states. Please do not consider self-deploying. The Hurricane Harvey storm event is still very dangerous, as is the potential Hurricane Irma storm event in Florida and Caribbean. As these dynamic situations change, needs may also change, and DESPP will continue to monitor any requests for assistance from the affected states.

Processing time for EMS Provider applications is 4-6 weeks.
This 4-6 week processing time begins when OEMS has received
all the documentation necessary for processing.

Has your EMS organization had a change in leadership? If you have a new chief of service, please notify DPH/OEMS in writing on agency letterhead within ten business days. This will assure we have your organization's proper contact information for correspondence as well as Everbridge.
Do you need to drop off paperwork to OEMS? Our office is in a secure building. A drop-box is conveniently located at the 1st floor security desk at 410 Capitol Avenue to submit applications, fees or any other documents. Please schedule an appointment if you wish to meet with the staff. (Note: It is strongly recommended that all documentation be submitted via U.S. Mail, fax or email.
