Certified Stroke Centers
Passed during the 2017 Legislative Session, Public Act 17-146 (Sec. 40) requires any hospital certified as a comprehensive stroke center, primary stroke center or acute stroke-ready hospital to submit attestation from the nationally recognized certifying organization to the Commissioner of Public Health.  A listing of hospitals that have provided attestation can be found by clicking here

Designated Trauma Centers
Pursuant to Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies Sec. 19a-177-4, hospitals seeking designation as a Trauma Facility must be verified by the American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma, and apply to the OEMS.  A current listing of hospitals can be found on the American College of Surgeons Trauma Center Database website.


Are you waiting for your EMR, EMT or AEMT certification to be processed?
Processing time for EMS Provider applications is 4-6 weeks. 
This 4-6 week processing time begins when OEMS has received all the documentation necessary for processing. 
A few tips:
-make sure you've created an account in eLicense

Reminders to all Certified & Licensed EMS Organizations...  
Has your EMS organization had a change in leadership?  If you have a new chief of service, please notify DPH/OEMS in writing on agency letterhead within ten business days.  This will assure we have your organization's proper contact information for correspondence as well as Everbridge.
Do you need to drop off paperwork to OEMS?  Our office is in a secure building.  A drop-box is conveniently located at the 1st floor security desk at 410 Capitol Avenue to submit applications, fees or any other documents.  Please schedule an appointment if you wish to meet with the staff.  (Note:  It is strongly recommended that all documentation be submitted via U.S. Mail, fax or email.  Please remember, cash is not accepted.)  Please visit our Contact Info Page to email the appropriate representative if you wish to schedule an appointment.  You may find more information regarding who may be best suited to assist you on our About OEMS Page.
