Connecticut Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CCRCP)

Stay in the Game Logo

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has funded the Connecticut Colorectal Cancer Control Program to increase and optimize the appropriate use of high-quality colorectal cancer screening among persons 50 years and older and to reduce disparities in colorectal cancer burden, screening and access to care.

The Department of Public Health (DPH) directs the program in collaboration with the following seven (7) select health care facilities. At each of these health care facilities you may be eligible to receive a no-cost colonoscopy and be referred to a primary care physician for follow-up services.

To be eligible to receive a no-cost colonoscopy, you:

  • Must be asymptomatic and at average risk for colorectal cancer
  • Must be between the ages of 50-64
  • Must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Have no health insurance (uninsured)
  • Have health insurance that excludes colonoscopy (underinsured)
  • Have a high insurance deductible ($1,000 or more)

Please note that a brief medical history and physical exam will be conducted to determine if you are medically eligible to undergo the colonoscopy procedure.

If you are interested in receiving a no cost colonoscopy, contact one of the participating health care facilities below:

Accessing Colorectal Cancer Screenings

The DPH in collaboration with the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut  (CHCACT) and its Eleven (11) participating Community Health Centers (CHCs) will be able to guide you in accessing colorectal cancer screening through your local CHCs and working with local gastroenterologists.

  • If you have a private health insurance, Medicaid and Medicare, and do not have a primary health care provider, but need to be screened for colorectal cancer, contact your nearest CHC to schedule an appointment with a Patient Navigator, who will support and guide you through the screening process.
