Human Investigations Committee

 

The Department of Public Health’s Human Investigations Committee is charged with reviewing, monitoring, and approving research using identifiable health data obtained by the Department of Public Health with the aim to protect the rights and welfare of the research subjects. 

The Committee meets at least bimonthly if agenda warrants to review protocols or modifications of protocols which have been submitted, consistent with CGS 19a-25, and Sections 19a-25-1 through 19a-25-4 of the Regulations of CT State Agencies.  The Committee consists of not less than five voting members appointed by the Commissioner of Public Health. 

Researchers should read the HIC Application Letter and submit their proposal using the HIC Form for Investigators.  Proposals should be received no later than 20 days prior to the date of the meeting at which they are to be considered, unless the Committee Chairperson allows otherwise.
