Hartford, Connecticut

 

AASHTO 2008 will take place in New England's newest venue, the Connecticut Convention Center.  Ideally located between Boston and New York, the Convention Center is the centerpiece of Hartford's Riverfront Recapture.  Known as the Insurance Capital of the World, Hartford is the home to several of the world's largest insurers (Aetna, St. Paul - Travelers, The Hartford Insurance Group, and Phoenix).  The city is also home to several historic attractions such as the Wadsworth Atheneum (the nation's first public museum), the Mark Twain House, the Hartford Stage, the Bushnell Memorial Auditorium, and the Artists Collective.  If dining and entertainment are your interests, the city offers a plethora of options from authentic Italian Cuisine on Franklin Avenue to exciting night life near the Hartford Civic Center.

 

One could not pick a better time come to the Connecticut.  The average middle October daily temperature range is 65 to 55 degrees.  More importantly, from mid to late October, guests will get an opportunity to witness the state's beautiful peak fall foliage season.
