Regulatory and Compliance Unit 
The Regulatory and Compliance Unit of the Bureau of Public Transportation oversees the regulation of livery operators, taxicabs companies, moving companies, and motorbus companies.
 
Office Hours
For Business that must be completed in person, the Unit's Office Hours are:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
 
For more than four (4) transactions, please make an appointment by calling 860-594-2865.
 
Background Checks
The Department of Transportation requires all Applicants to have a Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (State Police) background check completed prior to submitting any application that requires the background check.
 
Complaints
Taxi, livery and moving company complaints must be filed in writing; no complaints will be taken over the phone.

Applications:
Please Note:  Effective March 1, 2015, Livery and Taxicab Applications, delivered in person or by mail, which show a revision date prior to October 1, 2014 or which have no revision date, will no longer be accepted by the Regulatory and Compliance Unit.  Revised Livery and Taxicab applications are available below for immediate use.
 

Livery Applications:  All Livery Applications have been revised.  To speed the application process and avoid applications being returned because of missing or incomplete information, please read the Information Sheet included with each application for a summary of important facts and an explanation of the steps involved in completing the application process.

Motorbus and Household Goods Mover Applications are being revised and will be added to the website as soon as the revisions are complete.  If you need a Motorbus or Household Goods Mover Application, please request one be mailed to you by leaving a message with your name and address at 860-594-2865 or you can visit the Regulatory and Compliance Unit during office hours.  (See above for office hours.)
 
 
Taxicabs
 
 
Taxicab rates from Bradley International Airport to every town in Connecticut (and to some major attractions) are regulated by ConnDOT.
 
 
         Official form for taxi drivers to complete for trips taken.
 
 
Motorbus
 
The regulations of Connecticut State Agencies relative to motorbus authority serve as the guide by which all motorbus permit holders are mandated to adhere to.
