Road Closure on Route 139 in  Branford to Begin on July 1, 2017, for Bridge Replacement Activities

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled closure of Route 139 in Branford, beginning on July 1, 2017, to facilitate the replacement of Bridge 01358 carrying route 139 over the Branford River. The project involves the complete replacement of the bridge. Separate detours for vehicular and heavy truck traffic will be in effect from July 1, 2017, to November 30, 2017.

Advanced utility work has already been completed.  Upon road closure, the contractor will remove the existing bridge and construct the new bridge, utilizing a very aggressive schedule.  By November 30, 2017, the bridge shall be complete and the roadway reopened to all traffic.  Minor construction activities may occur after November 30, 2017, and may involve daily lane closures.

DOT Project no. 0014-0179 was awarded to C.J. Fucci at a cost of $2,877,999.06 on November 16, 2016.
