The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the temporary closure of S.R. 816 (Glen Road) for the rehabilitation of Bridge Number 00507 (Silver Bridge) over the Housatonic River on or about April 18, 2016, for seven calendar days.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the full length of the structure including replacement of the concrete deck, structural steel repairs to the truss and floor beams and a complete repainting of the bridge.

The bridge carries Route 816 (Glen Road) over the Housatonic River in the towns of Newtown and Southbury and will be fully closed to vehicular and pedestrians traffic for a period of seven calendar days to perform deck resurfacing operations with Latex Modified Concrete (LMC). The anticipated reopening date is April 25, 2016.

DOT Project No. 0096-0193 was awarded to McNamee Construction Corp., at a cost of $4,474,000.00 on 10/21/14 and is scheduled to be completed in June 2016.
