Public Informational Meeting Concerning Major Intersection Improvement at Route 190 and Route 319, Stafford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public informational meeting concerning the proposed major intersection improvements at Route 190 at Route 319 on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Stafford Senior Center, 3 Buckley Highway, Stafford Springs, Connecticut. An open forum for individual discussions with Department officials will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The project is
identified as Prospective State Project No. 134-TMP1.
The purpose of the proposed
project is to address safety concerns associated with the existing split
intersection configuration, with greatly skewed angles of intersection and
limited sightlines, in favor of a more efficient geometric configuration with
improved safety characteristics. After
analyzing alternatives, it was determined that a modern roundabout would best
address the concerns at this location.
The modern roundabout geometry will allow for safer turning movements
and nearby driveway access, with reduced speeds on the approach legs.
