The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic will be shifted on Interstate 84 to rehabilitate Bridge No. 04256 over Center Street in Newtown.  The traffic shift on Interstate 84 WB is scheduled for Wednesday night, October 29, 2014.

The work for the traffic shift includes relocation of temporary precast barrier, removal of current pavement markings, installation of new pavement markings, and necessary signing modifications.

The project involves the rehabilitation of Bridge Nos. 04255 and 04256 which carry 1-84 over Center Street, a local road in the town of Newtown.  The structures are single-span multi-beam-type structures. The traffic shift will occur in the westbound direction of I-84 with  work beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, October 29, 2014.  The new alignment will be in place for commuter traffic by 6 a.m. Thursday morning, October 30.  The rain date for this shift is Thursday night, October 30th to Friday morning, October 31, 2014.
