Public Information Meeting Concerning Replacement of Bridge No. 01665 and Intersection Realignment of Route 100 (Main Street) at U.S. Route 1 (Saltonstall Parkway) in the Town of East Haven
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Informational Meeting concerning the proposed replacement of Bridge No. 01665 and Intersection Realignment of Route 100 (Main Street) at U.S. Route 1 (Saltonstall Parkway) in the Town of East Haven on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Senior Center, 91 Taylor Avenue, East Haven, Connecticut. Department personnel will be available at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions prior to a formal design presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this project is to provide safety and traffic operational improvements at the Route 100/U.S. Route 1 intersection and to replace Bridge No. 01665 which has been identified to be in poor condition. This project was initiated based on a Departmentís review of accidents on Route 100 at its intersection with U.S. Route 1, and a review of the Bridge Inspection Program, respectively.
Overhead and underground utility relocations would be required for the proposed improvements of this project. Additionally, partial right-of-way acquisitions on both sides of Bridge No. 01665 would be required.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in fall 2013, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2014, based on the availability of funding. Construction activities are anticipated to last approximately one year. The estimated construction cost for the proposed replacement of Bridge No. 01665 and intersection realignment of Route 100 at U.S. Route 1 under this project is approximately $7.0 million, and it is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal and 20% state funds.
The Public Informational Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning the proposed improvements of this project.

Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review. Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.
