Nighttime Detour of I-95 Northbound to Route 34 Westbound (Exit 47), the Route 34 Flyover Bridge, Scheduled to Occur Tuesday, October 11th and Wednesday, October 12, 2011
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that I-95 NB to Route 34 WB (Exit 47), the new Route 34 Flyover Bridge, will be detoured evenings, Tuesday, October 11th and Wednesday, October 12, 2011, between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM.
Motorists traveling on I-95 NB wishing to access downtown New Haven will be redirected to Kimberly Avenue / Ella Grasso Boulevard (Exit 44). This work is to facilitate paving at the end the Route 34 Flyover Bridge.
All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.
Motorists can expect delays in the area of the surrounding Interchange including I-95, I-91, and Route 34, surrounding entrance and exit ramps and local roads. Please plan ahead and consider alternate routes to get to your destination.
The work in Contract E2 is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the construction of a new ramp (Route 34 Flyover Bridge) from I-95 NB to Route 34 WB at Exit 47 in New Haven. The project also includes reconstruction of the Route 34 WB Bridge over Brewery Street, relocation of the Exit 46 ramps at Long Wharf and Sargent Drives and the construction of a second lane from I-91 SB to I-95 SB. The project is in advance of the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge and the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange.
