Box Culvert Replacement Project Including Road Closure Begins on Pinewoods Road in Torrington Starting July 6, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Pinewoods Road in Torrington will be closed between the Route 8 interchange (Exit 46) and Winsted Road from July 6, 2010 until September 30, 2010.

The road closure is required for installation of a new box culvert at Still River.  The project includes drainage upgrades and roadway reconstruction along the entire length of Pinewoods Road. Access to businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.

A detour will be in place to direct motorists to Winsted Road from Route 8 ramps which will remain open during construction.  The detour route is:

Route 8 Exit 46 north and southbound onto Pinewoods Road east to Route 183 south and onto Greenwoods Road.

DOT Project No. 0143-0177 was awarded on February 22, 2010 to Spazzarini Construction Company, Inc. of Enfield, Connecticut at a cost of $1,808,108.10 and is scheduled for completion in November 2010.  The contract is being administered by the Office of Construction District 4 Thomaston
