The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work to install new pavement markings in the Towns of Clinton, Colchester, East Hampton, Portland and Westbrook is scheduled to begin on or about Sunday June 6, 2010.

The project consists of replacing crosswalks, stop bars and directional arrows at intersections along various state roads.  Motorists can expect temporary lane shifts during the evening hours Sunday through Friday between 9:00 p.m. and 5 a.m.

DOT Project No. 172-375 was awarded to Safety Marking, Inc. of Bridgeport, CT on May 4, 2010 at a cost of $134,850.00 and is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.

The construction project is one of several transportation infrastructure initiatives being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  For more information on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and a full listing of Connecticut DOT ARRA projects, please go to our website www.ct.gov/dot under the "Recovery Information" icon in the right-hand margin.
