The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that East Rocks Road between Granite Drive and Ox Yoke Lane in Norwalk will be closed to through traffic beginning March 22, 2010, as the bridge project moves into the next phase of construction. A detour will be in place and will remain in effect until the end of May 2011.

DETOUR INFO

Through Traffic will be rerouted via Allen Road, Toilsome Avenue, Grumman Avenue, and Bayne Street.  Detour signs will be in place to assist motorists.  Local traffic will have access on either side of the bridge closure.  The detour will be in effect until the end of May 2011.

DOT Project No. 0102-0302 involves the replacement of the arched portion of the structure and rehabilitation of other portions of the bridge.  The contractor is completing the preparatory work for the demolition phase which will require the planned closure of East Rocks Road.

The project was awarded to New England Road, Inc. of Clinton, Ct on December 16, 2008 at a cost of $4,768,001.50 and is scheduled for completion in May 2011.
