Route 219
Reconstruction and Safety Improvements
New Hartford, CT- The Department of Transportation announced today, weather permitting, beginning Friday November 9, 2007 Route 219 (Reservoir Road) will be re-opened to all northbound and southbound traffic. The posted detour will no longer be in effect.
This 3.3 mile section of Scenic Highway on Route 219 has been completely reconstructed by Bourgeois & Shaw Inc. of Simsbury, Connecticut under the direction of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, District 4.
Construction has been completed nearly one year ahead
of schedule.
The reconstruction included environmentally sensitive gabions as part of the roadway along the reservoir, new pavement, as well as, base material, and extensive drainage and safety improvements.
Construction signs will continue to be utilized for traffic control for the final stages of work.
