State Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announced today that construction work on the relocation of Route 72 in Bristol and Plainville is expected to begin the week of October 22, 2007. The initial work will involve clearing trees and brush through portions of the new highway alignment.
Activities currently affecting traffic primarily involve overhead and underground utility relocations. Survey crews are also active on various roadways throughout the project.
Manafort Brothers, Inc of Plainville Connecticut, is constructing this $39.7 million project under contract with the Department of Transportation.
