East Haddam/Haddam, CT- The East Haddam Swing Bridge is tentatively scheduled to be closed to vehicular and marine traffic beginning March 19, 2007 between the hours of  8:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m.  This temporary nighttime closure is necessary to reinstall mechanical components at the center pier beneath the roadway grating.  Marine traffic that does not require a bridge opening will be permitted to pass beneath. Since this work is weather sensitive, changes may be required to this schedule.

March 20, 21, 22, 23, 2007  Between 8:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. 

Temporary variable message signs will be used on with side of the Swing Bridge to advise motorists of these closures.

Alternate routes over the river, via the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown and the Baldwin Bridge in Old Saybrook, should be used.  Arrangements have been made with the Towns of Haddam and East Haddam to ensure the availability of emergency services during the closures.
