Westbrook - The Connecticut Department of Transportation and the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association presented awards to 21 State and Local Law Enforcement agencies for participation in the “Law Enforcement Challenge,” a program that recognizes high standards of achievement in the field of traffic safety.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator, New England Region, Deputy Administrator James C. Ryan, Connecticut Police Chiefs Association President Chief Matthew Reimondo of East Hampton and Connecticut Department of Transportation, Transportation Principal Safety Program Coordinator, Joseph T. Cristalli, presented the awards during the “Connecticut Law Enforcement Summit,” a statewide one-day conference on highway safety priorities. Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele addressed and welcomed the more than 300 state, local and university law enforcement officers and thanked them for their diligent work in highway safety.
The annual Traffic Safety Conference addressed a wide range of safety topics, including impaired driving and occupant protection; police vehicle safety and technology. The program offered the latest information on advances in highway safety, highlighted successful programs, and called attention to emerging safety issues.
