ConnDOT: Nighttime Closures-I-84 Southington

Hartford, Conn. -- State Transportation Commissioner Stephen E. Korta, II announced today upcoming nighttime interstate closures on I-84 in Southington.

I-84 eastbound will be closed between Exit 28 (Route 322) and Exit 30 (Marion Avenue) on Thursday, September 15th for a period not to exceed 10 minutes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

I-84 westbound will be closed between Exit 29 (Route 10 southbound Connector) and Exit 27 (I-691 eastbound Connector) on Thursday, September 15th for a period not to exceed 10 minutes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

These brief highway closures are required to ensure motorist safety during the installation of concrete girders for the Burritt Street Bridge.

These closures are weather permitting. The inclement weather date is Tuesday, September 20th.

These lane closures are part of the widening and interchange improvement projects on I-84 in Southington, Cheshire and Waterbury. When completed, the projects will result in an additional lane in each direction between Exit 30 (Marion Avenue) in Cheshire and just east of Exit 25 (Scott Road) in Waterbury. Several interchange ramps will be improved and relocated, and new ramps will be built at Austin Road (Exit 25A).
