Position Title:
Correction Officer (Firearms Instructor)
Maloney Center for Training and Staff Development   Firearms Training Unit
Open To: DOC Employees Lateral Transfer Only
Location: Firearms Training Instructor (Statewide)
Hours:
7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., 1st Shift, Monday-Friday
Closing Date: March 3, 2015
General Experience: Candidates must have completed three (3) years of employment as a Correction Officer and have DOC weapons certification for two (2) years to qualify for this position.
Minimum Qualifications: Considerable interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; considerable ability to understand departmental and institutional policies and regulations and apply them fairly and consistently; considerable ability to analyze situations quickly and accurately and adopt an effective course of action; considerable ablility to work under pressure.
Eligibility Requirement: State employees who currently hold the title of Correction Officer.  Candidates must be computer literate in the Microsoft applications of Word and Excel; be knowledgeable in armory operations and administration.  All candidates must meet the criteria of A.D. 2.3, A.D. 2.11 and A.D. 2.7 and must have ratings of Fully Successful or above on their last two (2) performance evaluations.
Special Requirement:
Candidate would need to be weapons certified and eligible to be trained as a firearms instructor.
Preferred Experience: The ideal will have certification with firearms and chemical agent instruction.  Candidates should also be armorer trained.  Candidates must be computer literate in the Microsoft applications of Word and Excel; be knowledgeable in armory operations and administration.  Candidates should also possess superior organizational skills.
