This unit is tasked with the apprehension of Parole absconders, Transitional Supervision escapees, and other cases deemed high profile. The location and apprehension of these fugitives is recognized as an important operation of Parole & Community Services. A constant effort to locate and apprehend violator's serves to impress that absconding will not be tolerated, nor is there any advantage in doing so. Therefore the department maintains a specialized Fugitive Investigations Unit that will seek, locate, and apprehend absconders from supervision both in and out of state.

The Unit works out of Offices in Hartford and Waterbury and has statewide responsibilities. The Unit partners with the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and also works on a regular basis with various State and Local Police agencies and has conducted operations with the CSP, FBI, ATF, DEA, the State Department, ICE, NYPD, MSP, and numerous other agencies.
