Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education and teaching; knowledge of the principles and practices of education for special needs population; knowledge of student program needs and goal setting; ability to motivate students; ability to communicate at the appropriate level; ability to establish cooperative relationships; ability to prepare written reports.
General Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.  Based on SDE requirements, applicants need to be eligible to teach adult education or have applied for the adult education certification.
Special Requirement: Candidate need to hold Connecticut Certification in Elementary, Middle or Secondary Education.
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
  • Preferred candidate will have at least (1) year recent (within the last five years) teaching experience with at risk population.
  • Preferred candidate will have working knowledge of current technology used in classrooms; to include the use of Smart boards and Eno boards.  Applicants may be asked to demonstrate usage in a classroom lesson plan as part of the interview process.
  • Candidates need to hold Connecticut Certification in Elementary, Middle or Secondary Education.  Subject area certifications should be Core Subject specific.
