Welcome from Commissioner Steven K. Reviczky
About Commissioner Reviczky | Commissioner's Corner | Invite the Commissioner to Speak
Our agency is committed to fulfilling its mission of growing Connecticut agriculture and protecting public health and safety in maters related to farming and domestic animals. Our commitment extends to facilitating and encouraging our residents to buy Connecticut Grown and to expanding the availability of locally grown foods and horticultural products.
The work of the DoAg’s dedicated staff is wide ranging – from assuring that the supply of Connecticut oysters is safe and abundant and ensuring that Connecticut’s farm animals are healthy, to protecting our best and most productive farmlands through the purchase of development rights keeping them available for farming, forever.
A recent University of Connecticut study finds that agriculture contributes about $3.5 billion to the state’s economy each year and represents some 20,000 jobs. We applaud and appreciate the renewed focus on farming and the work the agency does to grow the agriculture sector of our local economy and to make Connecticut Grown food and products available to more and more consumers.
