DMV’s Danbury and Hamden Offices Become Full-Service Hubs
WETHERSFIELD –The Department of Motor Vehicles announced today that its Danbury and Hamden offices will become part of the regional service network offering licensing testing and a variety of other customer services.
These two offices will provide a full-range of assistance with driver license testing and other license services as well as all license knowledge exams, road testing to obtain a driver’s license and related matters to issuing license endorsements and commercial driver’s licenses. The two offices are located at 2 Lee Mac Avenue in Danbury and at 1985 State Street in Hamden.
The additional services now available in Danbury and Hamden are:
- All Knowledge Testing
- Road tests (non-commercial driver license road tests only)
- Out-of-state driver's license transfers
- New non-driver identification cards for non-U.S. citizens
- Vehicle identification number verifications
- Eye tests
- New commercial driver's licenses
- Adding an endorsement to a driver's license or commercial driver’s license
- Acceptance of application packets for public passenger endorsements
Walk-in knowledge testing hours are:
- Tuesday - 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Wednesday - 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Thursday - 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday - 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Saturday - 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“We are very pleased to be expanding our customer services in these regions and be able to broaden our hub system to include them,” said DMV Commissioner Melody A. Currey said. “These new hub offices, as with our other hubs, have a demand for the various testing services we will provide.”
The Hamden office was always part of the regional hub plan and is being added following completion of some building and grounds work. Danbury is being added to serve Western Connecticut so that customers do not have to drive to Waterbury or Bridgeport.
In August, the agency regionalized certain services to four hub offices – Bridgeport, Waterbury, Wethersfield and Willimantic. The addition of Danbury and Hamden is part of the original plan for this hub network.
