DMV: Testing - Knowledge - Walk-In Hours

Walk-In Hours for Vision and Knowledge Testing
SERVICE UPDATE: All Department of Motor Vehicles offices and the DMV Cheshire Testing Center WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2015, due to expected poor weather conditions from snow and ice. Offices will re-open on their next regular next business day, which is Tuesday, at 7:45 a.m.
Anyone with scheduled road skills test appointments can call DMV to select new date. Customers with a learner's permit test appointment should wait for an e-mail from DMV that will explain how to reschedule the permit test appointment online.
All walk-in knowledge and vision testing is provided at DMV Hub Offices.
Walk-in knowledge testing is offered for the following transactions only:
  • Out-of-State License Transfer
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Testing
  • Motorcycle Endorsement
  • Tue., Wed. and Fri. - 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday - 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday - 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Early Closing - Testing stops at 11 a.m. on days that the office closes early due to a holiday. Please see Holiday Closing Schedule for the complete list of office closings.

Based on heavier customer volume on some days and hours, longer waiting times may be experienced. We ask for your patience, and in some cases, may suggest coming back on another day for testing.
