Renewing a Motorcycle Learner's Permit

SERVICE UPDATE:  On Monday, August 21, the Wethersfield DMV Inspection Lane will have limited service due to renovations and will only provide inspections for:  motorcycles, trailers and dual rear-wheeled student transportation vehicles.  The lane is scheduled to reopen for all inspection services on Tuesday, August 22 at 8 a.m.

DONíT WAIT: Renew a week or more before your birthday. You will not receive a permanent driver license or ID card while at a DMV or AAA office.   It will arrive through the mail.  You will keep your expiring license/ID and receive a temporary paper card.  For more on this, please see Central Issuance.

If your motorcycle permit has expired, the permit can be renewed once, for an additional 60 days, during the same calendar year in which it was issued. 

To renew the permit:

  • Go to any DMV office with your current motorcycle permit and drivers license. 
  • Pay a required fee of $16.
