DMV Road and Knowledge Tests Resume Tomorrow (Wednesday)

Motorists Also Warned to Clear Snow,
Ice from Vehicles or Face Fines

WETHERSFIELD – The Department of Motor Vehicles will resume road skills and knowledge tests Wednesday. Knowledge tests resume with the first scheduled appointments in the morning. Road tests begin at noon with those previously scheduled. Both were canceled Tuesday with the closure of state offices.

Anyone needing to re-schedule a road skills test should call 860-263-5700 within the Hartford area and those outside the Hartford area can call toll-free at 800-842-8222. Those with canceled knowledge tests were sent an email from DMV with instructions for re-scheduling.

Anyone with an expiring license, registration or other credential on Tuesday will have through Wednesday to renew without a late fee.

Drivers of commercial and passenger vehicles are reminded about the requirement to remove snow and ice from hoods, trunks and roofs or face fines and penalties. The law also calls for stiffer penalties when there’s personal or property damage from the flying elements.

Drivers are exempt from the fines when the snow, sleet and freezing rain begins or continues while the vehicle is traveling. Parked vehicles are also exempt from the required removal of ice and snow.
