DMV: Commissioner's Message

Greetings From
Commissioner Robert M. Ward

{Commissioner Ward}

Welcome to the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles' virtual office.  We are here to serve your driving needs, whether you are a teen driver, new to the state, or a driver with a disability.

Our website has been designed to be customer friendly in order to help you find information as quickly and efficiently as possible.  Many forms and applications are accessible online for your convenience, as well as, sample driver’s tests and driver’s manuals.

Any general information you might need to know about Connecticut’s DMV, from fees to our locations and hours is readily available and easy to access. You can also check out other services and information we provide, including vanity license plates and the organ donor program.

New drivers should pay close attention to our teen drivers link to review the requirements and documents needed for a learner’s permit or new driver’s license. There is even a step-by-step guide powerpoint presentation that walks 16 and 17-year olds through the process of getting a learner's permitIf you are new to Connecticut or have lost your license, link to our driver’s licenses and identification section to learn how to acquire a new one.

We hope we've made it easier for you to navigate through our website and better prepare you for what you will need when you need to do business with us.   Our staff is continuously working to improve the website and our work processes to try and simplify doing business with us.

Drive safely and please remember to buckle-up!

Thank you,

Robert M. Ward

Commissioner
