DMV: Medical Advisory Board

Motor Vehicle Operator's License Medical Advisory Board (MAB)
The  Medical Advisory Board (MAB) is responsible for providing the Commissioner of DMV with recommendations for operators with medical/medical-related concerns. The MAB comprises fifteen (15) medical professional members in Connecticut. A "medical professional" is a licensed physician, physician assistant, advanced practice nurse or an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

MAB members' identities are confidential and they are immune from civil liability under Connecticut regulation 14-46f. 

MAB members are appointed by the DMV Commissioner and are required to meet at least once a year. Meetings are held semi-annually. MAB members serve without compensation but are reimbursed for any necessary services incurred in the performance of their official duties as a member.
The medical specialties that comprise the MAB are:
  1. General medicine or surgery
  2. Internal medicine
  3. Cardiovascular medicine
  4. Neurology or Neurological surgery
  5. Ophthalmology
  6. Orthopedics
  7. Psychiatry
  8. Occupational Medicine
