  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Michael Bzdyra announced that customers who call the DMV have saved an estimated 10 million minutes of time waiting on the phone ever since the agency launched new technology in the spring giving customers the option to be called back at a scheduled time of their selection.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the State Bond Commission has approved funding to upgrade and improve the Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) outdated customer contact center into a modernized system that will give customers even more convenient options when conducting business in an effort to decrease the amount of time customers may often experience on hold when making telephone calls to the center.

  Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and other state officials announced that DMV will now offer a new commemorative license plate featuring the logo of the former Hartford Whalers hockey team. Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed the legislation to offer the plate and proceeds from the sale to benefit the future Connecticut Children’s Infusion and Dialysis Center.
 Making Appointments Online at DMV for Road Tests Coming Soon
  DMV Commissioner Michael R. Bzdyra said that the agency will soon give customers the convenience of making road test appointments online. The change is expected to improve wait times for scheduling these required tests as well as improve on-hold times in the DMV Customer Service Phone Center.

 National Teen Safe Driver Week (Oct. 15-21. 2017)
  Connecticut continues to show strong improvements in stopping fatal crashes among these young and inexperienced drivers. In 2008 Connecticut passed tougher laws aimed at improving safety for 16 and 17-year-old drivers and the data indicate that the laws are effective in reducing fatalities related to teen driving.

 Notice of Petition for Rate Adjustment and Public Hearing - Nonconsensual Towing and Storage Rates
  At the conclusion of the hearing, the hearing officer ordered that the record remain open until 4 p.m. on December 13, 2017 for the receipt of additional written comments from interested persons. Thereafter, the Petitioner shall have until 4 p.m. on December 20, 2017 to file a written response to any post-hearing comments from interested persons. The hearing record will be closed after 4 p.m. on December 20, 2017.
 Notification of Selected Vendors for Licensing Services RFQ Extended to December 1
  The Department of Motor Vehicles has extended to December 1 the date for notifying the vendors selected to provide licensing services. Those not selected will also be notified on that date. Additional analysis and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday made the extension necessary.
 Over 2,200 Violations Found During Roadcheck 2011
  Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Melody A. Currey announced that 2,230 violations were found during Roadcheck 2011, almost 400 more than last year’s comprehensive three-day commercial vehicle safety event.

  The Department of Motor Vehicles, along with State Rep. The event also served as a reminder to parents and teens of how important it is to follow these laws that have dramatically reduced fatal crashes among the state’s youngest and least experienced drivers.
