DMHAS Veterans Services

{10th Mountain Division, Afghanistan}

Serving Connecticut's Veterans, Citizen Soldiers, and their Families.

To assist Military Service Members, Veterans and their Families to excellence in their lives following their experience in war.

We strive daily to further this mission by:

  • Assuring the health and well-being of Service Members, Veterans and their Families by delivering outpatient behavioral health services that are accessible, timely and appropriate
  • Working in close partnership with VA, Vet Centers, Department of Defense, CT Military Department, other state agencies and community providers to:
    • Continually assess the needs of Service Members, Veterans and their families
    • Work cooperatively in developing new programs and services to meet identified needs
  • Building programs and services based on core recovery principles that include person-centered planning, enhanced choice in service planning and access to integrated behavioral health services in the community
  • Assuring that every Veteran is treated with dignity and respect, and that staff relationships with Veterans and their families are based on mutuality, not hierarchy
  • Assuring that every Veteran enjoys timely access to DMHAS services in the same manner as other, similarly-situated citizens seeking our assistance
  • Assuring that service/recovery planning is strength based. No Veteran need risk loss of housing, a job or the support of his community in order to access healthcare services
  • Targeting services to the newest generation of Veterans
