LABOR DAY TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT STATS FROM STATE POLICE

 

   During the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Connecticut State Police anticipated heavier than normal weekend traffic. The State Police utilized aircraft, unmarked patrol vehicles, and additional manpower to increase public safety to the highways and secondary roads of our state.

 

   For the purposes of reporting the statistics for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the “weekend” began on Friday 08/29/2014 at 12:01 A.M. through Monday 09/01/2013 at 11:59 PM. The following are the FINAL stats for the 2014 Labor Day weekend:

 

   1,727 speeding violation

   200 seat belt violations

   3,720 other hazardous moving violations (cell phone, follow too close, etc.)

   35 driving while under the influence

   315 total accidents

   33 with injury

   1 fatality in Chaplin, CT.  NOTE:  The death at Lime Rock Race Track is not considered to be road fatal but untimely death.

 

   2013 totals

   Speeding: 1,513

   Seatbelt: 231

   Other hazardous: 3,513

   DUI:  50  

Accidents: 259
44 with injury  

   3 Fatal
