** UPDATE **
STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE KILLINGLY FATAL SHOOTING
 

Location: 84 Kenneth Drive, Killingly

Accused: Kyle Carney DOB:10-22-91
             84 Kenneth Drive

             Killingly, CT

CHARGES: Manslaughter 2nd degree w/firearm

              Reckless endangerment 2nd degree


 

   On 8-05-14, at 7:07 p.m., Connecticut State Police Troopers from Troop D and QV Dispatch received 9-1-1 calls from a private home located at 84 Kenneth Drive in Killingly. The caller was requesting an ambulance for an accidental gunshot wound of a 16-year-old male victim.

   Troopers from the Killingly Resident Trooper’s Office and Troop D Danielson responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Troopers located an unresponsive male in an upstairs bedroom. The victim was transported via ambulance to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam where he was later pronounced deceased.

   State Police Detectives responded to process the scene and conduct the investigation. 

   ** UPDATE **

   The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted a post mortem exam August 7, 2014. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head and neck.

   The deceased is identified as Matthew Regula DOB: 7-02-98 of 8 Ballouville Rd. Killingly, CT.

   The State Police investigation revealed that the accused, Kyle Carney, DOB:10-22-91, was recklessly pointing a firearm in the direction of the victim when the rifle discharged, striking the victim in the face. The accused, Kyle Carney was taken into custody by State Police and charged with Manslaughter and Reckless Endangerment. The accused is being held on $500,000 bond and is set to appear in Superior Court GA 11 Danielson on 08-06-14. The investigation is continuing.
