Connecticut Fire Academy Introduction to the Fire Service Program to Graduate

Ceremony to Take Place in Windsor Locks on Saturday, August 9, 2014

(Windsor Locks, CT) - The Connecticut Fire Academy is proud to announce the graduation of the Introduction to the Fire Service (ITTFS) Program, Advanced Skills and Concepts (ASAC) Session. A select group of 28 members of local fire department Cadets, Juniors and Explorer programs, ages 16 to 17, all of whom previously participated in the Introduction to the Fire Service (ITTFS) program, will graduate the advanced program on Saturday, August 9th. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 AM at the Connecticut Fire Academy located at 34 Perimeter Road in Windsor Locks.

ASAC is an intensive, six-day residential program running from August 4 through August 9. During the program, the young men and women who enrolled receive instruction on vehicle extrication, high angle rescue, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), high rise firefighting operations, master stream operations, fire pump operations, radio communications, instructional methodology and leadership.

ASAC training is geared toward developing future Fire Service leaders by providing them with the tools to perform complex fire and rescue operations. It also prepares them to develop and deliver training programs to their peers and to be educated and equipped to step into leadership roles.

The media is invited to attend the ceremony.

The Connecticut Fire Academy is the teaching arm of the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, a Division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.  Their mission is to serve as the primary source of education and training for Connecticut firefighters.
