STATE POLICE YOUTH ACADEMY CLASS GRADUATION

On Sunday, July 6, 2014, the Connecticut State Police Academy training staff welcomed 26 new “recruits” to the State Police Training Academy, 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, Ct.  The Connecticut State Police Youth Week, in conjunction with the American Legion, is open to 16- and 17-year-old high school students throughout Connecticut.  Youth week is modeled after the State Police recruit training program and provides these students a unique opportunity to gain insight into the training, duties and expectations of Connecticut State Troopers.

The training week concludes with a Warrior’s Path safety & survival course on Saturday,
July 12, 2014, from 7:30 a.m. until about 11:00 a.m.   Warrior’s Path represents the culmination of all of the skills and knowledge the recruits learned during the week; it is designed to emphasize the importance of teamwork and overcoming adversity.

Media is invited to attend the Connecticut State Police Youth Week Warrior’s Path safety & survival course on July 12, 2014. The Warrior’s Path course will run from approximately 7:30 – 11:00 a.m. on the grounds of the Training Academy.

The recruits will participate in a formal graduation at the Connecticut State Police Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.   Family and friends will be attendance as each recruit is honored for their participation.   In addition each recruit is slated to receive a special monetary award that should assist in their college education.
