STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN THEFT OF METAL FROM VACANT FACILITY
 

ARRESTED:    Hawkins, Jacob.  D.O.B. 2/11/1982, Age: 32 

                   59 Birch Street, Apt. 3

                   Manchester, Connecticut 

 

CHARGES:      Larceny in the first degree (53a-122)
                   
Criminal Mischief in the first degree (53a-115)

 

Bond:           $100,000.00 surety.  Appearance Date: Friday, June 20, 2014.                             

 

COURT:         New Britain Superior Court, GA #15

 

   On June 19, 2014, the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad executed an arrest warrant for Jacob Hawkins (DOB: 2/11/1982) of 59 Birch St., Apt. 3, in Manchester, CT. 

   On June 6, 2014, DAS officials notified State Police Troop H that metal was being stripped and sold from the now vacant Cedarcrest Hospital in Newington. 

   It was reported that accused Hawkins, an employee of Triad Real Estate Services, which is under contract to maintain the Cedarcrest campus, was a suspect. 

   State Police Central District Major Crime Squad was assigned to work this case. Detectives gathered physical and forensic evidence.  As a result of the facts and circumstances determined in this case, Detectives applied to Superior Court for an arrest warrant for the accused. It has been determined that the estimated damage and loss to the facility is approximately $220,000.00.

   Accused Hawkins was taken into custody and charged with larceny in the first degree and criminal mischief in the first degree.  Accused Hawkins is being held on a $100,000.00 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, June 20, 2014, at New Britain Superior Court.
