                     STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN WILLIMANTIC STABBING

 

Location:    166 Jeffrey Rd. Windham Heights Apartment Complex

 

ARRESTED:  Albert Rosario   DOB: 11-14-1993

                 42 Village Hill Rd

                 Lebanon, CT

 

CHARGES:   Criminal attempt to commit murder (C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-54)

                 Risk of injury to a child (c.g.s. 53-21(a)(1)

                 Breach of peace (c.g.s. 53a-181)

 

Summary:

   On 05-28-2014, at approximately 4:54 p.m., State Police received a 911 call from a witness reporting that a victim later identified as Chanquil Barnes (DOB 02-04-90) of Willimantic had just been stabbed while at apartment #116 in the Windham Heights apartment complex. It was reported that the victim was stabbed in the stomach area and was severely bleeding.

 

   Troopers and EMS responded to the scene. Emergency care was provided to the victim who was then transported to Windham Hospital and transferred to Hartford Hospital.

 

   The initial State Police investigation at the scene revealed a description of the suspect. He was described as a Hispanic male who fled the area on foot toward a concrete company (east of the complex) immediately after the incident.  Troopers from the Windham Heights Task Force, Troop K, EMS provided emergency care and initiated a search of the area for the suspect. All area police were advised of the suspect description.

   The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives also responded to investigate this stabbing incident.

   Troopers observed a vehicle recklessly leaving a business nearby the scene with two subjects in the vehicle. One of the subjects matched a witness description of the accused.

   Troopers stopped the vehicle and as a result of their investigation, identified the accused as Albert Rosario.  Rosario was taken into custody and placed under arrest for the above charges.

 

   The accused was transported to State Police Troop K where he was processed and held on $100,000 bond.  The accused Rosario will be presented at GA#11 Danielson Superior court on 05-29-2014.
