STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST FOR ASSAULT, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT,
MOTOR VEHICLE CHARGES
 
   On 5/28/14, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad Detectives executed an arrest warrant for the accused, Keith Corey. 
 
   The arrest comes as a result of an extensive investigation regarding a pursuit that took place on January 14, 2014, in which accused Corey engaged Troopers on a motor vehicle pursuit through the town of Jewett City and into Lisbon on Interstate 395. After an approximately forty-minute pursuit, Corey crashed into a police cruiser.  While Troopers attempted to take Corey into custody, he continued his attempts to flee, striking a cruiser and then nearly running down several Troopers who had exited their vehicles.
 
   One Trooper who the accused drove toward was forced to discharge his service weapon once, striking the accused Corey once.  Corey was treated at the scene and was transported to Backus Hospital where he was treated and released.
 
   Accused Corey was turned over to the Department of Correction and has remained in custody of the Department of Corrections for Violation of Parole.
 
   Accused Corey was presented at GA #21, Norwich Superior Court for the above stated charges today May 28, 2014.

Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (C.G.S. 53a-115)

Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs (C.G.S. 14-227a)

Engaging in Pursuit (C.G.S. 14-223)

Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)

Operating Without a License (C.G.S. 14-36a)
