** UPDATE **

STATE POLICE TO INVESTIGATE

POLICE-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN BRIDGEPORT

 

 

   On 11/25/2013, at approximately 6:55 p.m., members of the Statewide Urban Violence Cooperative Crime Control Task Force (SUVCCCTF) were engaged in an undercover operation on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport. SUVCCCTF is made up of local and state law enforcement.

 

   Two armed suspects were ordered out of their vehicle but they did not comply with police commands. The suspects pointed at least one of their weapons at police, forcing several of the Bridgeport officers to discharges their weapons at the suspects in the car.  The vehicle then attempted to drive away, but struck the curbing inside the parking lot and became disabled.

 

   Both of the armed suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee but were immediately apprehended by the officers.  They had obvious gunshot wounds and were subsequently transported to area hospitals for treatment.

 

   The female driver of the vehicle was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The male passenger was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 2034 hours.

 

   The deceased male was transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy scheduled for November 26, 2013. 

 

    ** UPDATE **    

    The deceased has been identified as Carnell L. Williams (DOB: 11/21/1990), 220 Sheraton Street, Apt. 2, Bridgeport.

 

   No one else was injured, but the involved officers were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation and later released. 

 

   The Bridgeport State’s Attorney’s Office was on scene and requested that the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad investigate the use of force incident. 

 

   The identification of the officers involved is being withheld at this time.
