STATE POLICE AND MULTIPLE AGENCIES

DISMANTLE DRUG TRAFFICKING OPERATION IN EASTERN CONNECTICUT

 

   Over the past year, detectives from the State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force-East Office, in conjunction with the Troop D Quality of Life Task Force, Norwich Police Department, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have been conducting an investigation into the illegal sale of large amounts of heroin and cocaine from residences located at 1107 Plainfield Pike in Sterling and 3 Campbell Drive, Unit #4, in Canterbury.  

   As a result of this investigation, members of the SNTF-East Office, Troop D QLTF, Norwich Police Department, and the DEA executed a narcotics-related search and seizure warrants.  The simultaneous raids were conducted by the Connecticut State Police Tactical Unit.  As a result of these search and seizure warrants, investigators located large amounts of heroin and cocaine all pre-packaged for street level sales.  Also seized were manufacturing and packaging materials, scales, and other drug paraphernalia items, along with $7,944.00 in U.S. currency, nine pre-paid cash debit cards with unknown amounts, and five vehicles, two of which contained hidden traps for transporting narcotics.

   Arrested was the target of this investigation: Rafael Ventura DOB: 09/06/1956 of 1107 Plainfield Pike in Sterling.  In addition to Ventura, several others were arrested in connection with this investigation, Leafar Ventura DOB: 02/06/1987 of 3 Campbell Drive, Unit #4 in Canterbury, Jose Manuel Martinez DOB: 08/28/1971 of 3 Campbell Drive, Unit #4 in Canterbury, and Yokasthia Luna DOB: 08/20/1971 of 197 Colfax Street, Providence, RI.  All four were charged with Possession of Heroin (21a-279a), Possession of Cocaine (21a-279a), Possession of Narcotics with intent to sell (21a-278b), and Operating a Drug Factory (21a-277c).  All four arrested were processed and held on a $150,000.00 cash bond with a scheduled court date of October 30, 2013 at GA 11, Danielson Superior Court.

   The Statewide Narcotics Task Force is asking that anyone having information related to this drug trafficking organization to please contact them at 860-442-9491.
