   On October 23, 2013, the Connecticut State Police at Troop D in Danielson started an initial investigation into a missing 77-year-old white female from the town of Woodstock.  Earlier that day, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Rolande Magnan (DOB: 10/20/1936), of 172 Harrisville Road in Woodstock left her residence for her morning walk and failed to return home. 

   The incident was reported to the Connecticut State Police later that afternoon by Mrs. Magnanís husband at approximately 3:30 p.m.  At that time, Patrol Troopers from Troop D, to include a department K-9, responded to the area and began a detailed systematic search of the residence and of the immediate area with negative results. 

   Due to the missing personís age, wooded terrain and weather conditions, additional resources were requested.  These resources included the Connecticut State Police Search and Rescue K-9 Unit, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad and the Connecticut State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 1).

   A Silver Alert message along with an Ever bridge / Reverse 911 notice was sent advising area residents that Mrs. Magnon was missing.  Troop D personnel, Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad and five Search and Rescue K-9ís remained on-scene to actively look for Mrs. Magnon during the overnight hours.  At day break, while continuing search efforts, it was decided to allocate additional resources to include members from the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, Muddy Brook Fire Department, Bungay Fire Brigade, the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security / Urban Search and Rescue K-9 teams (USAR), DEEP, Connecticut State Police Dive Team and Recruits from the Connecticut State Police Academy, along with family and friends in an attempt to locate Mrs. Magnan.

   On October 24, 2013, at approximately 12:52 p.m., after an extensive search, Mrs. Magnon was founded deceased in a wooded area off Butts Road in Woodstock, which was located approximately a Ĺ mile from the family home.  Investigation into Mrs. Magnonís Death is being investigated by detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad.  However, no criminal aspect was uncovered.
