TROOPER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN MILFORD

On October 23, 2013, shortly after 3:00 a.m., a Connecticut State Police Trooper was patrolling the Milford area at which time he stopped at the Patriot Fuels gas station on 719 Boston Post Road in Milford to conduct a patrol check of the area.  Preliminary investigation reveals that this Trooper interrupted an armed robbery taking place inside the Patriot Fuels building.  The Trooper confronted the armed suspect and gave him directives.  The suspect failed to comply with those directives and forced the Trooper to discharge his firearm, striking the suspect.  This male suspect was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene.

Milford Police officers and Troopers from the area immediately responded to the scene to render assistance.  A store clerk inside the building during the incident was unharmed.  The involved Trooper was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation of minor injuries.

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit is investigating this incident led by the Ansonia-Milford Office of the State’s Attorney and assisted by the Milford Police Department

The name of the involved Trooper, as well as the identity of the deceased suspect, is being withheld at this time while all notifications are made to family.
