STATE POLICE RELEASE FINAL STATS FOR
2013 LABOR DAY WEEKEND
During this holiday weekend, the Connecticut State Police anticipated heavier than normal weekend traffic. The State Police utilized unmarked and marked patrol vehicles, as well as additional manpower, to increase public safety on the highways and secondary roads of our state.
For the purposes of reporting the statistics for this holiday weekend, the “weekend” began on Friday, 08/30/2013, at 12:01 a.m. and ran through Monday, 9/02/2013, at 11:59 p.m.
The total Labor Day Weekend enforcement:
1,513 speeding violations
237 seat belt violations
3,513 other violations (hazardous moving, cell phone usage, etc.)
50 arrests for driving under the influence
Motor vehicle accidents that occurred:
259 total accidents
44 with injury
Enforcement efforts will continue as children head back to school.
