** UPDATE **
STATE POLICE CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE SHOOTING
OF WILLIMANTIC POLICE OFFICER;
The suspect accused of shooting a Willimantic Police Officer on June 25, 2013, was apprehended by a State Police K-9 team at 12:56 p.m. on June 25 on Rt. 32 near the IGA Supermarket. State Police Tactical Team members were in place and involved in the chase and apprehension of the accused.
The accused was transported to Windham Hospital under State Police guard, where he was treated and released for K-9 bites he suffered when he was apprehended. The accused was discharged from the hospital and transported to Troop K in Colchester.
The accused is identified as:
ANDREW SAMUOLIS, DOB: 4/12/79
LKA 31 Tunxis Lane
CHARGES: BREACH OF PEACE
Interfering with Police
The accused, SAMUOLIS, is being held on $1,000,000 bond and it set to appear in Superior Court GA #11 on 06/26/13.
The criminal investigations are continuing and are being conducted by Detectives from the State Police Major Crime Squad, assisted by the Willimantic P.D.
State Police Detectives anticipate additional charges will be lodged upon completion of this investigation
