Personnel from the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad and Troop F responded to three separate bank robberies on the above dates and locations. Upon reviewing the banks surveillance videos, it became apparent that all three banks were robbed by the same individual a female disguising herself to look like a male. As the investigations continued, information was developed, including the fact that the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad was also investigating two additional bank robberies in their troop area (East Lyme) that were committed by this same female. Additionally, Hardwick Vermont Police were also investigating a bank robbery in their town with the same female suspect.

Through witness interviews, information was developed that led investigators to believe that the suspect was operating a red wagon type vehicle with Vermont registration plates and this information was passed along to surrounding local shoreline police departments. Eventually, an Old Lyme Constable spotted a similar type vehicle in the town of Old Lyme and reported such to investigators. This led investigators to the accused, Susan Braig (09/03/83), who was residing at 8 Sterling Hill Road in the town of Lyme, CT at the time. Subsequently, investigators were able to meet with and interview Braig.

On 04/08/13, at 0700 hours, Susan Braig turned herself in at Troop F in Westbrook where she was charged with the above stated three (3) bank robberies. She was processed, held on bond, and transported to Middletown Superior Court for her arraignment. Additional bank robbery related arrest warrants to be served on Braig at a later date.
