STATE POLICE NARCOTICS TASK FORCE

Putnam Police Department

RAID & ARREST PUTNAM DRUG TRAFFIC SUSPECT

 

   Over the past month, detectives from the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, assisted by the Troop D Quality of Life Task Force (QLTF) and the Putnam Police Department, have been conducting an investigation into the illegal sale of crack cocaine from a residence at 102 Powhatten Street, 1st floor, in Putnam.  

 

   As a result of this investigation, on 03/21/13, members of the State Police SNTF, Troopers from the Troop D QLTF, and Putnam Police Officers executed a narcotics related search and seizure warrant.   As a result of this search and seizure warrant, investigators located approximately 4.5 grams of crack cocaine prepackaged for sale, 4.5 grams of marijuana and $6,720.00 in U.S. currency.  Investigators also discovered two juvenile children aged 8 & 10 residing in the residence.   In conjunction with the Drug Endangered Children Program, the Department of Children and Families was contacted and advised and will be conducting a follow-up investigation.   

 

   Arrested at the scene was Rory O. Smith, DOB: 09/24/1975 of 102 Powhatten St., 1st floor, Putnam.  Smith was transported to the Putnam Police Department where he was charged and held on a $15,000 cash/surety bond with a scheduled court date of March 22, 2013, at GA 11 Danielson Superior Court.

Charges:    Possession of Narcotics (21a-279a)

                Possession of Narcotics WITS (21a-278b)

                Risk of Injury to a Minor 53-21 (2 counts)
