Today, 03/09/13, at approximately 6:02 a.m. a man notified the State Police Casino Unit of an armed robbery/assault which occurred on the 19th floor of the Mohegan Sun Casino Hotel.
State Police Detectives responded to the scene with casino security personnel. Troopers determined that the male victim was approached by the perpetrator as the victim exited the elevator to the 19th floor. The victim was assaulted at gunpoint by the suspect. The victim, during the course of the incident, was struck about the head and face with the handle of the handgun which had been displayed by the suspect. This caused minor injuries to the victim who refused medical treatment.
The victim further stated that the suspect had entered the hotel elevator along with him in the hotel lobby and the suspect exited with the victim on the 19th floor. The victim indicated that the suspect struck him from behind as he (victim) walked towards the hotel room. The suspect displayed a dark-colored semi-automatic handgun that was used in this attempted robbery.
The victim added that the suspect demanded money, then proceeded to hit him with the weapon in the head and face with the gun and then fled back into the elevator.
